Improv Shows The Monkey Business Institute, Madison’s most experienced group of professional improvisors, creates a unique performance in the basement stage at Glass Nickel Pizza East (2916 Atwood Ave.) MBI doesn’t waste time with such trivialities as sets, props, scripts or line memorization, instead creating spur-of-the-moment, seat-of-the-pants improvisational comedy by mixing audience suggestions, decades of improv experience and sheer moxie. We strongly encourage you to buy tickets online to guarantee seating or take your chances at the door. Tickets are non-refundable. Private Comedy Shows If you’re in charge of planning a party for your company, searching for entertainment for a convention, or hosting an event of any kind, The Monkey Business Institute is available for hire! Our members have an average of over eleven years of improv comedy experience. We’ve put on great shows for just about every type of audience you can imagine; convention crowds, holiday parties, casual business events, youth groups, rowdy retirement parties, and more. Every performance is different, but each show is approached with the same goal in mind – we want your group to be amazed and entertained! Customization is easy with The Monkey Business Institute. If you have a particular theme or person you’d like to highlight, we can work with that! If you’d like “clean and clever” or “we’re all adults here”, we’ll give you the show you (and your group) wants. When you book a private show with the Monkey Business Institute, you are treating your organization to a unique and hilarious entertainment option that will have them talking about it for years to come. Classes Learning the skills of improvised comedy isn’t difficult! If you like having fun, laughing and trying new things, it’ll be as natural as breathing! Classes are taught by Madison’s most experienced instructors for every skill level and all ages. Improv classes can do a lot to boost creativity, collaboration skills, public speaking and more “practical” abilities. But more than anything, our classes are about having fun and sharing some laughs. Youth Classes The number one goal of Monkey Business Institute’s Summer Improv Comedy Camps is FUN! But a close second is teaching your son or daughter the principles behind awesome improvised comedy – and getting them ready for their own IMPROV COMEDY SHOW at the week’s end! We’ll show them how listening, sharing focus and working well with others makes everyone look brilliant on stage. They’ll learn a bit about performing in front of a live audience, performing as part of an ensemble, and how to support their fellow team members. Oh, and we’ll goof around a lot in the process! All classes are taught by Monkey Business Institute co-founder and 20+ year improv comedy instructor, Brad Knight.
